Overview

Also know as 'Trekkers delight', the route to Pindari glacier boasts of some of the most spectacular and beautiful scenery in the upper reaches of the kumaon Himalayas. In this sometimes rugged, but mostly easy paced trek the wonderfully varied terrain traverses though thick forest tracts that abound in wild shrubs, flowers & ferns, rhododhendron trees that line the landscapes, large expanses of velvety grasslands & winding pathways that move along the flowing river Pinder.

The route winds its way to the glacial terraces created by the river which has carved a gorge through its run down from the glacier. All along the path, mountain ranges keep company contributing sparkling water to the river below by numerous waterfalls that slither down the rocky surface. These water bodies attract wild animals especially the nimble mountain goats (Bharel's) that make the sheer vertical drop look like a simple walk. The region is also home to a number of birds including the rosefinch, cuckoos, Himalayan Monal amongst others.

One of the main attractions on the trek are the beautiful views of the peaks of the Himalayan ranges including Panwalidwar (6683 m) and Maiktoli (6803m). The magnificent view of the sunrise from zero point is magical to watch with the constantly changing colors & hues of the morning sky and is a photographer's delight.
